Beginning with a complimentary consultation to discuss your vision and wishes for the project. Measurements and photos will be taken on-site, if need be.

Next, your ideas become a virtual reality. You will receive coloured floor plans and 3D perspective views throughout the design process.

The drawings are set to scale and details are added for construction, code compliance, truss concepts and electrical layouts. Energy calculations are provided, if required.

Last minute changes can be made before drawings are sealed by the engineer. Once finalized, you can submit for permit and start to gather quotes. Let the home building begin!

Technologist vs. Architect

An architectural technologist is trained in building science, construction and technology. My training also includes aesthetics, lighting and space design. Technologists are not certified to seal drawings, but can work with architects or engineers to provide those services when required. Costs are typically lower for a technologist than an architect.

An architect is certified to seal architectural and structural designs. For residential work in Saskatchewan, a seal is only required on structural work (concrete, rebar, steel beams, etc) in most municipalities.

Do you provide structural drawings?

Yes, I work with a local structural engineering firm to provide my clients with any sealed structural drawings they require (concrete, rebar, steel beams, etc). Co-ordination and payment of these drawings are provided through Tangent Drafting + Design.

Do you travel outside Regina?

Absolutely! I'll come to rural towns, acreages and smaller cities within Saskatchewan. There is a travel fee of $1.30/km as indicated by Google Maps. I'll also check with the R.M. for any bylaws that need to be adhered.

What is your education background?

I completed the Architectural and Interior Technologies Diploma as well the Architectural Heritage and Building Renovations Certificate from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) in 2008. I have since completed training for Autodesk Revit (allowing me to design in 3D) and am an advocate for continuing education.

My previous work experience includes residential, multi-family, small commercial along with land designer, project manager, estimator and interior selections. I've lived in many types of homes, starting from scratch to full interior renovations.

What is your pricing?

For the most part my pricing is $80.00/hour. For a better outline give me a call to provide a free estimate.

Are there any discounts?

If you're a reoccurring client, builder or contractor I'll give you a 10% discount on all drawing services!

How long does it take to complete a set of drawings?

Typically two to six months all in, depending on the project type, size and time of year. This includes coloured 3D preliminary designs and working drawings complete with engineering and energy calculations, if required.

I’m Julie Masko, the Owner and Architectural Technologist behind Tangent Drafting + Design. My experience spans 15+ years in the residential sector, from initial concept to final home completion. I’ve been involved in every stage, including estimates, spatial design and navigating permits.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with home builders, engineers, contractors and individual clients. Bringing their ideas to life, I use 3D software creating original designs custom to each project. I’m passionate about delivering a final product that meets your vision and leaves you completely satisfied.
